Race Discrimination report - November 2024

This report brings together our thematic work to explore, challenge and address race discrimination in policing. We looked at more than 300 IOPC investigations and reviews of complaints where race discrimination was a potential factor to be considered. We are sharing the learning from our work to help policing take action to rebuild trust and confidence in policing and the police complaints system with affected communities.

We hope that this report serves as a valuable resource to support and guide further progress in policing practices. Alongside this report, we have also published revised guidelines for handling allegations of discrimination and a toolkit for police complaint handlers.
