Our directed investigation into a WhatsApp conversation where offensive messages were shared and went unchallenged followed a referral from West Yorkshire Police in December 2022
The investigation was carried out by West Yorkshire Police under the direction of the IOPC.
Outcome
On conclusion of the investigation in March 2023, after reviewing the investigator's report, we determined PC Louis Hepplestone had a case to answer for gross misconduct.
He was dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing in November 2023.
