Death of Muhammad Qasim after collision - West Midlands Police

Read information about our investigation into the circumstances of West Midlands Police interaction with a vehicle prior to a collision at Handsworth, Birmingham, on 2 October 2023. Muhammad Qasim, who was one of two men in the vehicle, died later in hospital. Our original investigation ended in May 2024 following which representations were made by Mr Qasim's family. We subsequently decided a reinvestigation was necessary and that began in September 2024.
