Investigation overview

Our investigation into the conduct of an officer when providing evidence to a series of reviews following the Manchester Arena bombing followed a referral from Greater Manchester Police in June 2021.

We also considered a complaint made on behalf of the families of the victims of the terror attack as part of out investigation.

Outcome

Our investigation concluded in January 2023. Following a Victims' Right to Review of our initial decision not to refer the case to the Crown Prosecution Service, a second decision maker determined a referral should be made. No charges were brought by the CPS.

A disciplinary hearing will take place in due course.
