GMP - search for missing man in Wythenshawe

Read information about our investigation into Greater Manchester Police's response to reports of a missing man in the Wythenshawe area on 19 August 2021. John Winterton, 26, was sadly found dead by officers on 25 August.

Our independent investigation followed a referral from GMP in August 2021 and concluded in July 2022. An inquest into Mr Winterton's death concluded on 30 May 2023. See below for more details on our investigation.
