Impact report
Our impact on people and policing
Our sixth annual Impact report 2023/24 focuses on stories about real people and the impact we have had on the public and policing. This report showcases examples from the first year of our new five-year strategy: Building trust and confidence in policing.
You can read examples of how we’ve improved policing and police complaints handling, how we have worked with communities and young people and how we supported service users, improving access to the complaints system.
The report shows:
- how we handled the case of a man who was stopped and searched and subjected to excessive force by the police
- how we engaged with young people in London, empowering them by informing them of their rights
- how we made recommendations to strengthen safeguards for strip searches involving children
- how two officers who abused their position by forming inappropriate relationships with vulnerable women they met while on duty were jailed
- how we also encountered officers acting with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, in difficult circumstances
