Investigation into death in police custody of 38-year-old man in Reading
We have begun an independent investigation following the death in hospital of William Cameron, 38, who had been arrested and taken to Loddon Valley police station, Lower Earley, Reading on Wednesday 8 January, 2020.
After being notified on Wednesday morning by Thames Valley Police, our investigators attended Loddon Valley police station and the police post incident procedure.
The investigation is at an early stage and we are still gathering information. The Coroner has been informed, a post mortem examination carried out and we are awaiting the results.
IOPC Regional Director Sarah Green said: “My thoughts remain with the family and all those affected by this loss. As Mr Cameron has sadly died shortly after being taken into police custody it is appropriate we carry out an independent investigation into the circumstances.”
