Read information about our investigation into an alleged assault in custody of a 16-year-old boy involving on 4 January 2020 involving a Thames Valley Police custody sergeant.
Our investigation began on 16 January 2020 and concluded in May 2020 when we sent a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service which authorised charging the officer with battery, contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
