We have begun an investigation following the death of Angela Craddock in Warrington, Cheshire.

Ms Craddock, aged 40, was found with serious injuries at an address on St Elphins close, on 10 April 2018, and sadly later died in hospital. William Smart, aged 54 from Warrington, has been charged with her murder.

Our investigation is looking at the response by Cheshire Constabulary to information they received about William Smart between 3 and 10 April 2018.

Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) Regional Director Amanda Rowe said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Angela Craddock. Our investigation is underway and is progressing well. Though our work is in the early stages, we have already established a timeline of events regarding information given to Cheshire Constabulary prior to Ms Craddock’s death, and will now work towards clarifying what they knew about William Smart and what action was taken.”
