A Hertfordshire Constabulary officer has his first hearing at court on Wednesday (24 June) charged with one count of sexual activity with a child.

Police Sergeant Michael Grigg, 34, based at Hertfordshire Constabulary Headquarters, is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 24 June.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) carried out a managed investigation. The investigation was conducted by Hertfordshire Constabulary under our direction and control.

PS Grigg was charged on Wednesday 22 April and released on bail.

Note to editors:

A managed investigation, known now as a directed investigation, is one where the IOPC sets the terms of reference for the investigation and direct the course of enquiries which are carried out using police resources. At the end of the investigation the relevant police authority will share its evidence and analysis with our team of investigators who will then decide whether the terms of reference have been met.
